SAN ANTONIO — The New York Knicks showed everyone why they are the hottest team in the NBA Finals. On Wednesday night, Jalen Brunson scored 30 points to lead the Knicks to a 105-95 win over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 1.
The Spurs once led by 14 points in the second half, but the Knicks did not give up. Instead, New York finished the game on an amazing 11-0 run to steal the victory. This win marked New York's 12th consecutive playoff victory, making them the seventh team in NBA history to have such a long winning streak.
Victor Wembanyama, the young star of the Spurs, had 26 points and 12 rebounds in his finals debut. However, he only made 6 of his 21 shots. "I was bad tonight," Wembanyama sadly said after the game.
The Knicks are now only three wins away from their first NBA title in 53 years. Game 2 will take place on Friday in San Antonio.
